Student Testing Center Policies

Exam requests must be submitted through Accommodate at least 3 business days before the scheduled exam date.

Requests submitted fewer than 3 business days before an exam will not be approved. 

It is highly recommended to book all of your exams at the beginning of the semester to avoid scheduling issues.

Students should schedule their exams for the same date and time as the class whenever possible. If you need to test at a different date or time, you must receive approval from your instructor before submitting your request in Accommodate. If your instructor approves an alternate testing date or time, forward or email written confirmation of their approval to [email protected] so the Testing Center can verify the change.

Notify the Testing Center as soon as possible if there is a change to your scheduled exam. DRS may need to confirm changes with your instructor.

If you are unable to attend your scheduled exam, contact both your instructor and the Testing Center. Make-up exams can only be scheduled with instructor approval.

Students who arrive more than 15 minutes late may lose that time from their approved testing time, depending on Testing Center availability and instructor instructions. Instructors may also specify that an exam cannot be administered after a certain time.

The DRS office and Student Testing Center are open Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m.

All exams must be completed by 5 p.m. Students should consider their approved extended time when selecting an exam start time.

DRS provides white noise machines in testing rooms. Noise-reducing headphones and foam ear plugs are also available upon request.

Only items approved by DRS or your instructor may be used during an exam.

Examples of permitted items may include:

• Instructor-approved calculators
• Approved notes or formula sheets
• Materials specifically authorized by the instructor or included in your accommodations

Personal belongings and unapproved materials must be stored outside the testing space. Lockers are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Items that are generally not permitted in testing spaces include:

• Phones
• Personal headphones or earbuds
• Smartwatches or smart rings
• Hats
• Oversized coats
• Pencil bags or cases
• Outside food or beverages other than water

Students are generally expected to remain within the DRS Testing Suite for the duration of the exam. We recommend using the restroom before beginning your exam.

If you need to leave the Testing Suite during your exam, you will be asked to complete a break slip documenting the length of your break. This information may be provided to your instructor.

Proctors do not provide verbal reminders of remaining testing time. A timer will be available so you can monitor your time during the exam.

After completing your exam, please clean your testing area using the disinfecting wipes provided at your desk.

If you have questions or experience an issue during your exam, notify a Testing Center staff member.

Students testing with DRS are held to the same CU Denver Academic Integrity Policy as students testing in the classroom.

Suspected academic misconduct will be documented and reported to the course instructor in accordance with university policy.
