Create Presentations

Turn notes and bullet points into a structured first draft for a presentation, then review and refine the content using your professional judgment.

Example: Convert department meeting notes into a six-slide presentation with an overview, accomplishments, challenges, decisions, and next steps.

View workflow, prompt, and resources

How to try it

  1. Open Microsoft Copilot Chat and sign in with your university account.
  2. Upload an approved document or paste the notes you want Copilot to use.
  3. Describe the audience, presentation length, purpose, and required sections.
  4. Check the draft against the source material and move the approved content into the CU Denver PowerPoint template.

Try this prompt

Create a six-slide outline for a 10-minute department presentation. The audience is CU Denver staff. Include a title slide, current status, accomplishments, challenges, decisions needed, and next steps. Use concise bullets and suggest speaker notes. Do not add facts that are not in the source material.

Tool access: All staff can use Copilot Chat to develop an outline. Creating or editing slides directly inside PowerPoint requires a paid Microsoft 365 Copilot license.

Summarize Project Information

Bring together key points from project documents and meeting notes to create a concise leadership update with decisions, deadlines, risks, and next steps.

Example: Combine a project tracker, meeting summary, and status notes into a one-page weekly update.

View workflow, prompt, and resources

How to try it

  1. Collect the approved project tracker, status notes, and previous update.
  2. If the information came from a Zoom meeting, enable Meeting Summary before the meeting begins.
  3. Provide the approved source material to Copilot Chat and request a structured update.
  4. Confirm dates, decisions, action items, and owners with the project team before sharing the summary.

Try this prompt

Using the project information provided, prepare a one-page leadership update. Include overall status, accomplishments since the previous update, upcoming deadlines, risks and blockers, decisions needed, and next actions with owners. Separate confirmed information from assumptions. Flag conflicting dates, missing owners, and information that needs verification.

Tool access: Zoom Meeting Summary is available through the university Zoom environment. Copilot Chat can summarize files you provide manually. Automatic access to emails, calendars, Teams discussions, and OneDrive files requires the paid Microsoft 365 Copilot license.

Organize Reports and Data

Use AI to summarize spreadsheet information, identify patterns, and prepare clear tables or charts for review and decision-making.

Example: Analyze an expense report by department, identify unusual changes, and create a summary table for review.

View workflow, prompt, and resources

How to try it

  1. Keep the original workbook unchanged and work from a clearly labeled copy.
  2. Make sure column headings are clear and remove information that is not needed for the analysis.
  3. Ask Copilot a specific question and name the columns, date range, calculations, and desired output.
  4. Verify totals, formulas, source rows, charts, and identified trends before using the results.

Try this prompt

Analyze the expense report provided. Do not change the original file. Create a summary by department and expense category, identify the three largest month-to-month changes, flag missing or duplicate entries, and recommend an appropriate chart. Explain the calculation used for each finding and list anything that should be verified manually.

Tool access: Staff can use Copilot Chat to review an uploaded workbook or ask for help with formulas. Creating formulas, PivotTables, charts, and other changes directly inside Excel requires a paid Microsoft 365 Copilot license.

Before You Begin

Microsoft Copilot Chat is available to active CU Denver faculty, staff, and students when they sign in with their university account. AI features integrated directly into Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and Teams require a separate Microsoft 365 Copilot license.

Always verify AI-generated content. Follow university requirements for privacy, data classification, security, accessibility, and responsible AI use. Do not upload university information to an AI tool that has not been approved for that information.
